Here's everything you need to know about the world of television for Tuesday, July 9th, 2024:

GREETINGS FROM PASADENA
I am writing this from the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, California, where the Television Critics Association is kicking off its Summer 2024 tour tomorrow. As you may or may not know, the TCA typically does two tours a year and it's a time when the various networks, studios and streamers bring in their talent and executives in speak with critics. 

I'll be writing a great deal over the week about what is happening here and I'll try and remain cognizant of the fact that the subscribers to this newsletter fall into several different groups: people working in the industry, people who just enjoy television and about 25 percent of the subscribers who live outside the United States. So I will hopefully balance all of that in a way that remains interesting to everyone.

The last TCAs were in February and it was nice to meet people in person who read the newsletter. The most memorable feedback came from a network publicist, who spotted my nametag as she walked past me at an event. She circled back around, and told me "I read your newsletter every day. You're........not what I expected." And she walked away. I prefer to think it was a compliment although I am reasonably sure that it wasn't.

One side effect of the TCA schedule is that the newsletter will likely be late some days. So I apologize in advance.

SPEAKING OF REASONS TO BE PUBLISHING LATE IN THE DAY
While the TCAs don't kick off until tomorrow, I spent some of this afternoon at a big streamer, doing some off-the-record one-on-one talks with five different executives - two of them in video conference calls from overseas. Obviously I can't say anything about the discussions, but I will say that I really appreciated the invitation and the conversations were extremely enlightening. I can't say that my mind changed fundamentally on the big issues of the industry. But hearing first-hand about corporate strategy, marketing initiatives, content valuation and global production is really helpful to me and it will help to make me a more informed reporter.

TOMORROW AT THE TCAS
It's the Disney Entertainment Television Day, which includes panels on season two of FX's The Old Man, season two of Hulu's Reasonable Doubt, the new FX series English Teacher (which will be premiering internationally on Disney+), the new FX documentary series Social Studies, the Freeform reality series Wayne Brady: The Family Remix, the new ABC series High Potential and the Hulu series Interior Chinatown.

I'll be interviewing people throughout the day and while a lot of stuff is still embargoed, I can tell you I am really interested in seeing the public's reaction to Interior Chinatown. I wasn't able to arrange any one-on-one interviews, but it's one of those shows that is almost impossible to describe. You really have to to see it to get it.


NBC ANNOUNCES ITS FALL PRIMETIME SCHEDULE
NBC announced it new fall schedule and here is a quick rundown, including official loglines for the new shows:
