Investigation Discovery Announces New Head of Production Kathryn Vaughan

Today, Investigation Discovery, the leading true crime network, announced Kathryn Vaughan as the new Senior Vice President, Head of Production for the network, who will be based out of New York.  Vaughan will report directly to Jason Sarlanis, President of Turner Networks, Investigation Discovery and HLN, Linear & Streaming.

Vaughan has worked in the TV industry for more than 20 years with experience in unscripted genres such as true crime, lifestyle and sports.  Vaughan most recently served as Head of Development and Current Programming at AMPLE Entertainment where she oversaw a substantial slate of documentaries and series such as Violent Minds: Killers on Tape (Peacock), Morimoto’s Sushi Master (Roku), upcoming limited series for both Netflix and ABC News, and ID’s The Price of GleeDeath by Fame and Murder in the Heartland.  

Previous to AMPLE, Vaughan was the President of Good Caper Content, which she launched as ITV America’s true crime and investigative documentary arm, overseeing a slate of series including Taken at Birth (TLC) and True Life Crime (MTV).  At Good Caper, she also created New York Homicide and Final Moments for Oxygen, BTK: Confessions of a Serial Killer for A&E and Holy Heist for Discovery+.  Earlier in her career, Vaughan helped launch and served as Executive Producer for Dick Wolf’s Cold Justice and Cold Justice: Sex Crimes (TNT), and produced such titles as Millionaire Matchmaker for Bravo and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for ABC, and Beyond the Glory for FoxSports Net.
