The National Basketball Association (NBA) has entered a multi-year deal with Amazon Prime Video to stream a number of its games in Mexico.
Under the terms of the deal, more than 50 regular-season and playoff games will stream on the service with a Spanish-language commentary.
Amazon will also make the NBA's League Pass subscription service available on Prime Video in Mexico.
The current NBA broadcast partners in Mexico are the Star+ streaming service run by ESPN and Disney, and the ViX platform run by TUDN.
The first game under the new deal will be the Monday, January 22nd game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the San Antonio Spurs. Prime Video will cover 37 games across the remainder of the 2023-24 NBA regular season, until early April, and games will be shown on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.
In a statement announcing the deal, Rafael Elia, the NBA's vice president of global media distribution for Latin America, said: "As we continue to identify innovative ways to ensure fans around the world have diversified access to NBA games, we look forward to collaborating with Prime Video to deliver a premium viewing experience to fans in Mexico."
Paulo Koelle, director of Prime Video Latin America, added: "We are excited to bring the NBA closer to our customers, with an offer that will serve both casual fans, with games included in the Amazon Prime membership, and die-hard fans, with the option to add a subscription to NBA League Pass."
This deal expands Prime Video's international relationship with the NBA. The streaming service also struck a similar deal for streaming rights in Brazil in October 2022.
