South Korea's Finecut is at Cannes this week, pitching theatrical versions of several short-form shows that originally streamed on the Korean K-pop platform Kitz.
Wind-Up: The Movie stars Jeno and Jaemin of the K-pop boy band NCT and is a full-length film edited together from 50 short-form vertical videos.
Finecut has already signed deals for release in Japan (KDDI Corporation), Taiwan (Caiching International), Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia (Purple Plan), Thailand (Sahamong-kolfilm International) and for viewing on several Asian airlines (Bofrato).
Finecut is also licensing the occult comedy After-School Exorcism Club: Girls' Night, which features five members of the group Fifty Fifty; Reapers On Duty, a dark comedy starring Lee Min-ki and Hyungwon of the K-pop group Monsta Z; and the time-travel romance Wi-Fi Love In The Palace, starring Luda from the girl group WJSN and The Boyz member Younghoon.
