10 Rejected New Names For MSNBC

The fine folks at MSNBC announced today that later this year, MSNBC will take on a new name: My Source (or) News Opinion (and the) World (MS NOW). The rebrand is the result of the channel splitting off from parent NBCUniversal into the new company Versant, and NBCU apparently decided that it doesn’t want MSNBC to retain the NBC name. Which is weird, because it seems not to have minded having the new MS NOW name sound uncomfortably close to the name of NBCU's streaming news service NBC Now.

As you can imagine, a name change such as this one required the skills of a large group of expensive McKinsey consultants and many names were considered and discarded before deciding on this...choice.

Here are a few names that weren't chosen and I'll leave it up to you decide if MSNBC executives made the right decision:

1) VNN (Versant News Network)

2) MS Now

3) MMmmmm News

4) Lots Of Former Biden Staffers Network

5) Not NBC

6) MS+

7) RMAOM (Rachel Maddow Airs On Mondays)

8) Quickster News

9) Mr. Now

10) MSNBA
