Lizzy Greene To Exec Produce And Star In Survival Thriller 'High Tide' From 5X Media

Lizzy Greene (A Million Little Things) will star in and executive produce High Tide, a survival thriller that strands a group of friends on a swiftly submerging tidal island deep in the Pacific, where they are soon hunted by the ocean’s greatest predator.

Greene plays Hannah who, mourning the death of her sister, takes off around the world. Her journey leads her to Fiji and on a tour of an isolated atoll – a volcanic island that disappears with each high tide. But when the group are stranded, the rapidly rising ocean begins to reveal its terrifying inhabitants.

Having led five seasons of ABC’s popular drama A Million Little Things, Greene is next set to star in Netflix’s upcoming series Ransom Canyon, which is currently in production, across from Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly and James Brolin.

High Tide, which launches production this fall in South East Asia, marks the feature debut of director David Straiton, a veteran of premium TV series including Narcos, The Originals, Hemlock Grove and Shooter.

He takes High Tide’s reins from a script by Erik Patterson and Jessica Scott (Abandoned). Scott Einbinder (Killer Joe) produces for 5X Media together with Matt Bierman (Deep Blue Sea franchise).

Straiton says, “High Tide’s soul sets it apart. At its core is a story of a young woman dealing with past trauma, a secret and trying to find peace and her way back into the world.  Lizzy possesses the same soulfulness, sense of hope and inner courage as Hannah, whose strength will be forged in the terrifying trials to come.”

Greene adds, “I'm thrilled to collaborate with the talents of director David Straiton and producers Scott Einbinder at 5X Media and Matt Bierman. It's going to be an exhilarating journey, and I couldn't be more excited to be part of such a dynamic team. Exploring Hannah's odyssey amidst the backdrop of practical & special FX in our shark-centric tale is going to add a great dimension to the storytelling process. It’ll be a challenge, and I'm eager to dive into the creative waters with this incredible team.”

Architect has launched worldwide sales ahead of Cannes, and is co-representing North American rights with 5X Media.  Architect’s Calum Gray says, “You couldn’t ask for a more ingenious and thrilling high concept than High Tide. For a survival thriller, it’s the perfect cocktail of a treacherous, ultra-challenging environment and a single-minded, relentless antagonist. It will thrill global audiences to their core. The excellent Lizzy Greene plays a hugely relatable and highly sympathetic character who we will root for, while David and his seasoned team will craft around her a paradisal, exotic but dangerously immersive world.”

High Tide kicks off an ambitious film slate for 5X Media following a major expansion this year into the global arena under the direction of former Keshet International CEO Alon Shtruzman (La BreaEcho 3) and former Bunim/Murray Productions (BMP) CEO Gil Goldschein (Keeping Up with the KardashiansProject Runway). They now serve as co-CEOs and equity partners in 5X with Einbinder, who launched the company in January 2023 and is its executive chairman.

Einbinder says, “We are excited to partner with Lizzy on 5X’s first feature film project. As one of the most in-demand actresses working today, Lizzy is destined to capture audiences worldwide, including her millions of dedicated followers, and will lead an extraordinary cast that we will be announcing soon. The talented director David Straiton, a 5X client, is turning to film directing with High Tide after his massive success with many great premium television series. Our producing partner, Matt Bierman, has developed a super original and genre-bending screenplay.

The filmmakers have assembled an expert team of technicians to build High Tide’s environment, including cinematographer Aron Levy (Snowpiercer, Getaway), production designer Andrew Orlando (Halo) and special effects impresario Todd Masters (DuneHemlock Grove).

Architect is in post-production on The Bayou and pre-production on The Swallow, both survival thrillers for Tea Shop Productions. Other titles in pre-production include Tooth Fairy, from the producers of NowhereMindful, produced by Lady Spitfire; writer-director Martha Stevens’ 99 Days, starring Mckenna Grace; writer-director Daisy-May Hudson’s Lollipop for the BFI, BBC Film and Parkville Pictures; and Academy Award shortlisted feature doc 32 Sounds, from Academy Award nominee’s director Sam Green and producer Josh Penn.

Greene is repped by Verve Talent and Literary Agency, Brave Artists Management and Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman. Straiton is repped by Buchwald and 5X Media.
