Stephen Zlotescu's short film "True Skin" has been optioned by Amazon Studios, which will develop a pilot for its next round of potential one-hour pilots.
The film had previously been optioned by Warner Brothers, which recently let the option lapse after failing to develop the project.
The short film is set in the near-future and focuses on the story of a man who can't afford the body augmentations that have become popular in the United States. To save money, he travels to Bangkok for the procedure and while there he is "augmented" with a mysterious chip that is slowing turning him into an android.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Zlotescu will direct the pilot, which will be produced by Scott Glassgold and his Ground Control production company.
