Discovery Channel received 8 Emmy® nominations for the 68th Primetime Emmy® Awards, announced this morning by the Television Academy with 4 nominations for Deadliest Catch including a nom for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program. Deadliest Catch, currently in its 12th season, has received 42 nominations to date and 16 wins. MythBusters, which recently wrapped its final season on Discovery, nabbed a nomination for Outstanding Structured Reality Program. And Discovery received a nomination for its groundbreaking documentary Racing Extinction in Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking

Deadliest Catch, which profiles men and women who risk their lives and put everything on the line to complete the most dangerous job in the world, received nominations for Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Program, Outstanding Picture Editing for Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Nonfiction Program (Single or Multi-Camera).
Nominated for Outstanding Structured Reality Program, MythBusters uses a signature brand of explosive experimentation to prove or disprove popular myths, misconceptions or legends.
Naked and Afraid XL is an intense survival experiment that will truly test the limits of human endurance in the world’s most extreme environments and was nominated for Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program
Nominated for Outstanding Narrator, Life Story takes us on the greatest of all adventures – the journey through life.
Nominated for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking, Racing Extinction is a groundbreaking documentary that looks at how a team of artists and activists expose the hidden world of endangered species and the race to protect them against mass extinction.
The 68th Annual Primetime Emmy® Award winners will be announced live, Sunday, September 18th at 4pm PST / 7pm EST at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
