Apple is to loosen movie and TV rental restrictions, allowing users to watch across devices. Customers are currently restricted to watching from the device they ordered on, which is more than a bit arcane in a world filled with households that own multiple Apple devices.
On Tuesday, Apple released iTunes 12.6 for the desktop, and the update includes what Apple calls "rent once, watch anywhere." The problem for now is that the option only works with the new iOS 10.3 and tvOS 10.2 versions, both of which are still in limited Beta testing and not available to the general public.
So Apple is making it easier to watch your TV and movie rentals. Just not quite today.
