Biography: Matthew Beard recently wrapped shooting a starring role opposite Josh Hartnett in Roland Joffe’s “Singularity.” He can next be seen in theaters starring opposite Steve Coogan in Michael Winterbottom’s “King of Soho,” as well as starring opposite John Hurt, Jessica Brown Findlay and Tom Felton in “Labyrinth,” which Ridley and Tony Scott produced.
Beard is an exceptional young actor who started performing professionally at the age of eight. He recently graduated from the University of York with a First Class Honors Degree in English Literature, shooting movies over the holidays. He was nominated for Best Newcomer at the British Independent Film Awards for his performance opposite Jim Broadbent in “When Did You Last See Your Father?” in which he played the young Colin Firth. He also starred opposite Aaron Johnson and Imogen Poots in “Chatroom,” which was featured in the Director’s Fortnight at Cannes, as well as opposite Carey Mulligan in “An Education,” directed by Lone Sherfig, who also directed him in “One Day.” Beard has also appeared in an advertising campaign for Burberry, handpicked by Christopher Bailey.
