Election Week 2020 Was CNN's Best Week In History

CNN had its most-watched week in the history of the network (40 years) during Election Week 2020 (November 2ND-8TH).  More people watched election coverage on CNN than any other network, cable or broadcast.  The network had five of its most-watched 10 days in history last week, and CNN Digital had five of its six biggest days of all time.

 

During the week, CNN registered its best week in the history of the network among total viewers in Total Day (3.519 million) and in prime time (6.106 million). Among adults 25-54, Election Week 2020 also marked CNN's best week ever in Prime (2.626 million). In Total Day in the demo 25-54, Election Week was CNN's 3rd best week on record with 1.401 million), behind only the weeks of September 10-16, 2001 (1.522 milion) and March 17-23, 2003 (1.456 million).  

 

Additionally, CNN ranked #1 in All of Cable among both total viewers and adults 25-54 in Total Day (6a-6a) and prime (8p-11p).  Among All of Television, CNN ranked #2 in total viewers in both total day and prime, and in the demo 25-54 CNN ranked #1 in prime time and #3 in Total Day.  

 

CNN also registered the youngest audience in cable news (FNC and MSNBC) during election coverage across the week in both Total Day and prime time.

CABLE REACH:

 

During Election Week, CNN reached the most 25-54 viewers across all of cable (not just news) in Total Day (31.1 million). Among total viewers, CNN is #2 in all of cable reach in Total Day with 78.7 million (behind only FNC). The network also reached most total viewers and adults 25-54  across all of cable in Prime (total viewers 53.6 million; demo 25-54: 21.9 million).

CNN DIGITAL:

Election Week 2020 was CNN Digital’s best week in history, far outpacing anything on record with five of the six all-time best days ever in unique visitors and the four out of the top six days on record for live video viewers. The past week also saw record-breaking unique visitors to CNN’s live story and CNN’s Election Center. The week included the best five days of all time for CNN’s live story while CNN’s Election Center has had 7 out of 10 biggest days of all-time – far outpacing 2016 audience levels.
