Chet Hanks, the son of actor Tom Hanks, says he’s taking a social media break because of "pro-Trump conspiracy theorists."
In an Instagram message posted Tuesday afternoon, Chet Hanks said the constant attacks "have been taking their toll on me mentally to see such disgusting lies written about my family from people who really don’t know reality from the internet."
Tom Hanks has long been the target of followers of the QAnon movement, who believe that many American politicians and Hollywood Stars - including Tom Hanks - are secret pedophiles who kidnap and abuse small children. There have also been claims that Hanks was arrested for pedophilia in Australia and claimed to have COVID-19 to cover the arrest and that Hanks became a Greek citizen because pedophilia there is considered a disability. Not surprisingly, all of these claims turned out to be untrue.

Taking a break from social media for a while. Months and months of vile accusations from pro-Trump conspiracy theorists have been taking their toll on me mentally to see such disgusting lies written about my family from people who really don’t know reality from the internet. It’s been making me hostile and paranoid, which oddly enough is probably exactly how they feel. The truth is nobody really knows what the fuck is going on, and the only true wisdom is the knowledge that we don’t know shit. I know the hate is never going to stop, I just need to find better ways to deal with it, because if I let it the toxicity of the world today will eat me alive. If you can relate, I hope you can find a way to tune it all out too. Hold on to the love you got. And don’t forget to love yourself too. ✌?
